Wheelthrown porcelain candle holder with color changing Alexandrite glaze, white layered glaze on top and hand-painted black underglaze lines. This candle holder can hold votives and small pillar candles. This is a second because the bottom of the pot stuck to my kiln shelf and I had to grind the glaze off the bottom.
The geometric pattern is created with a tape resist technique which leaves a very tactile unglazed pattern on the surface.
Dishwasher and Microwave Safe
The Alexandrite glaze is dichroic, which means it changes color depending on the type of light that hits it. It is purple in daylight and LED light, gray or blue in different fluorescent lighting, and pinkish purple in incandescent light. You can see an example of this glaze on a different pot in different lighting in the last photo.
